The Twice Baked Twins

We are identical twins, Judy and Joy, and have lived in Connecticut all of our lives. Our love of food and our passion for people lead us on this wonderful and exciting journey we have chosen.

It all begins in our mother's kitchen where she and her mom, our Nana, would prepare delicious and elaborate meals for the family and anyone else who was lucky enough to be there. We have a large family so there was always a party or an event to celebrate. As the years passed, each one of us married and had children of our own taking the memories of our childhood with us and passing them onto the next generation. We decided to expand our love of baking for our family and friends by starting a luxurious dessert business focusing on the elaborate displays and presentation. The business expanded over five years and serviced the elite of Fairfield County.

Television was always exciting to the both of us, so we decided to do something for the Food Network.  We entered a contest for Bobby Flays production company, Rock Shrimp Productions, called "Grill it with Bobby Flay". They called us immediately and asked us to do a holiday special for them called "Dear Food Network" where we recreated a recipe for a roasted goose that was once a favorite of our Grandfather. We were predominately featured along with celebrity Chef Danny Boome. The show was a great success for us and we plan to work with the network again in the future.

We are currently working on channel 3's Better Connecticut, a morning talk show, and appear regularly to share classic recipes with a new twist, and what we call our "Twice Baked 2 Minute Take". This is where we both prepare the same recipe but in very different ways. Joy will be making everything from scratch (for all you die hard cooks and chefs) and following a recipe precisely; and Judy will always take a short cut in finding the easiest and fasted way to do anything! Whichever way you choose to prepare the recipe will be up to you. This will be very entertaining for you and definitely for us. Joy thinks her way is best and Judy, quite frankly, doesn't!

In addition to our Better Connecticut food segments we also began writing a syndicated newspaper column (which you can find in a number of newspapers throughout the NE) and making guest appearances on radio talk shows such as WICC, The Morning Breakfast Show and WDRC's The Mary Jones Radio Show. We have also created a successful food blog on our website, twicebakedtwins.com and are pursuing our dream of writing a cookbook.  And all this in less than one year!!

This is our second year as the Twice Baked Twins and it is proving to be just as exciting as the first. The Food Network surprised us by airing our Holiday Roasted Beast segment again this season. In addition to Better Ct, we joined Better.tv, which is a nationally syndicated lifestyle show shown in 53 cities through out the country. We also filmed our first video blog for Ladies Home Journal Magazine, show casing one of their recipes from a 1930 issue!

As far as writing our syndicated food columns, this year also brought to us to several online magazines, which is so exciting! Phew!! What's next? Can't wait!
